Local manufacturer Bailey Products, part of Cerro EMS is putting environmental management at the heart of their operations in order to achieve sustainable success for the company. In order to show their commitment staff are currently being put through their paces as they strive to be awarded the environment international standard ISO 14001 and health and safety standard BS OHSAS 18001.

Senior management of Cerro EMS are keen to achieve ISO 14001 following the integration of an effective environmental management system into the company’s operation. It has been designed to help Bailey Products remain commercially successful without overlooking their environmental responsibilities. Corporate social responsibility is an integral part of the organisations’ operation and it is hoped that the new system will enable staff to meet the increasingly high customer expectations of CSR whilst helping to grow the business whilst reducing the environmental impact of this growth.

In order to meet the stringent qualifying criteria, Bailey Products will need to demonstrate improved efficiencies designed to reduce the cost of running the business, better environmental management to reduce waste and energy use and to win greater stakeholder and customer trust.

Not content with achieving one standard, management are also looking to be awarded BS OHSAS 18001 for best practice of occupational health and safety management. Policies, procedures and controls are being integrated into the day-to-day operation to ensure that the best possible working conditions are achieved. Senior Management recognise that their employees are one of their biggest assets and with an average service length of 15 years they understand that taking care of their workforce is of paramount importance to the success of the business and UK manufacturing.

Bailey Products will find out if they have been successful in September.
